In music tech class, I want to be as good of a composer as possible. I always strive to learn more about making music, and try to make my songs as good as they can possibly be. Often times, I get disappointed when I overestimate how much I can work on a song before the assignment is due.
One thing I have learned from music tech class is that composing a good combination of music is hard, but worth it. Finding the perfect blend of melodies and counter melodies, where to pan everything, and what volume everything should be is not and easy task, but when music is composed properly, it can be heartfelt, catchy, and many other great things.
I am always striving to be as good of a musician as possible. I consider my strong suit in making music to be video game music, but my weakness is polka music, for the sole reason that I despise polka music. When Mr. McCready first said we were allowed to make music from home and upload it onto this website, I was well beyond excited. I am really looking forward to making as much music as possible in Music Tech class. My personal favorite programs to make music at home are flat.io and Incredibox. My first experience with making music was not actually writing music, but rather composing it. I tried to make a band called the Green Napalm, which I planned would become a famous band. For the record, it failed. Hard. The only people that ever joined were a euphonium player, a bass clarinet player, and a string bass player. I also never got the chance to do a single rehearsal, with one exception, when I got with the string bass player, and we rehearsed just the first 8 measures of one piece. Currently, I don't really know what I'm going to do in the future. I am considering being a video game developer when I am older, however. I first came up with the idea during the summer break between seventh and eighth grade, and am currently pursuing such an idea.
When I first heard about music tech class, I knew I had to take it. I have no regrets of any kind on taking it. For starters, we (almost) never ever have homework of any kind. Okay, seriously though, this class is awesome. Mr. McCready is probably my favorite teacher at RHHS, the class shows a side of me rarely seen otherwise in school, and I just overall enjoy Music Technology class. I'm dead serious about the no homework thing, though. I don't see that as any kind of a good reason to join nor do I recommend you join, I'm just saying it's a bonus. Outside of music tech, some other music-related things about me include: I am capable of playing the clarinet, the drums, and (kind of) the piano. My favorite song of all time is "Another One Bites The Dust" by Queen. I've known how to play the clarinet since 4th grade. I once tried to invent a new genre of music, called "Blast" music. It didn't turn out so well. I'm not the only musician in my family- I'm second cousins with Brian Bell, the bassist from Weezer. In addition to writing music, I also write stories, am trying to be a video game programmer in the future, and study science.
So, why am I interested in making music? The main reason I like music has to do with my enjoyment of making things. Even outside of music, coming up with my own concepts for things, my own inventions, and things like that is something that deeply intrigues me. Whenever I see a concept for a story, invention, or scientific theory, I almost immediately start to come up with my own ideas for it.
That's why I'm interested in making music- it's just me making something that I enjoy. I really like being experimental with music, and try to make songs that sound distinct. I'm also constantly looking for a new concept or challenge with my music, seeking to have as much variety in my songs as possible.
Even outside of Music Tech class, this concept of inventions and creations still applies. Outside of music, one of my favorite subjects is STEM. From solving riddles to pondering over the scientific laws that govern our lives, I genuinely enjoy science, engineering, mathematics, programming, and things of that nature. In addition, I am the Dungeon Master for a good portion of the Dungeons and Dragons campaigns I am involved in.
